Gary Watkins came out of Northeastern University with an electrical engineering degree in the mid-1970s and went straight to M/A-COM — Microwave Associates then — building RF and microwave components for military, aerospace and commercial work. He spent about seven years with his hands on the technology before moving to the other side of the table.
What followed was twenty-five years as a microwave sales representative and, eventually, president and CEO of Custom & Wireless Sales, covering Northern California and Northern Nevada. Under him the company grew from $1 million in sales to $100 million — built, by his own account, on knowing the engineering well enough to be worth trusting.
The books came from the same instinct. Non-fiction, mostly: political events, history, and the places he and his wife have actually walked. The photographs in Seeing Italy are his own.
